Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Psycle On Wellness has extended services to the broader community, including the juvenile detention setting. We are seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide psychiatric services to children and adolescents. This role focuses on addressing psychiatric disorders, behavioral challenges, trauma, and co-occurring conditions to support rehabilitation. The PMHNP will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team to ensure medication compliance and uphold professional standards of care.
The ideal candidate is a licensed professional in Maryland with experience working with youth in Baltimore juvenile justice settings and a commitment to trauma-informed, evidence-based care.
Candidate must be open to working three 8-hour shifts per month.
Flexible scheduling - Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Specific scheduling need is for psychiatric clinic coverage on-site on Mondays.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments to diagnose mental health conditions of youth at the facility.
- Develop personalized treatment plans using a combination of psychotherapy, medications, and other therapeutic approaches
- Work closely with nursing staff to ensure proper administration of psychotropic medications
- Consult with nursing and behavioral health staff to review Medication Administration Records (MARs), laboratory results, and other medical records
- Complete Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS) assessments, with behavioral health staff assisting in tele-psychiatry settings if necessary
- Deliver emergency psychiatric services as needed, including 24/7 on-call coverage
- Provide face-to-face consultations within 1 hour of notification when requested
- Attend clinical staff meetings as scheduled
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education, Licensure & Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Nursing
- Active License in the state of Maryland (PMHNP) - in good standing
- Minimum of 3 years practicing psychiatry
- Previous work experience with the adolescent population as a nurse practitioner prescribing medications is required.
- Experience working with children and adolescents in a juvenile detention center setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet-based systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willing to complete a federal and state background check
- Reliable transportation
